Hello, Demon Families!!

Potomac Woods hosted Palisades yesterday for our second A Meet of the season. Congratulations to all of our swimmers that worked together to capture our first WIN!! Final Score – Potomac Woods 397, Palisades, 390. Whew, it was a close and fun meet!

Results have been posted on the home page of our Team Website and all times are also under your swimmer’s profile in Swimtopia on the website or in the app.

Week 3 Information:

B Meet – Away: Potomac Woods vs Potomac this Wednesday, June 28 at Potomac! (10531 Oaklyn Drive, Potomac, MD 20854)

• Sign-ups CLOSE Monday, June 26 at 6 p.m. Please declare your swimmer’s attendance (attending/not attending) and sign up for their events. (You can declare and sign up for ALL meets for the entire season NOW)
• Sign up to Volunteer! Volunteer sign-ups also close at 6pm on Monday.
• Meet Theme: Any Sport but Swimming (wear your swimsuit underneath)
• Arrive by: 5:00pm
• Warm-ups: 5:20 pm
• Officials and Timers Meetings: 5:30 pm
• Meet Start: 6:00 pm
• Hospitality will be available for volunteers at the break.

Team Meeting and Social - Friday, June 30, 2023

• Team Meeting - 6:00pm
  • Join your teammates and coaches for our weekly Friday Team Meeting! Our coaches will announce Swimmers of the Week, Time Droppers of the Week and Spirit Award Winners! We will also be announcing awards from Week 2.

• Team Social - 6:30pm - Tie Dye
  • We are rescheduling last Friday’s tie dye social for this week! Bring a white t-shirt, we'll supply the rubber bands and dye! Make a tie-dye shirt!

A Meet - AWAY this Saturday, July 1 at Northwest Branch

• Sign-ups CLOSE Thursday, June 29 at Noon. Please declare your swimmer’s availability (Available/Not available). Doing this helps Jonny create the lineup with swimmers that we know are available. You can declare your swimmer’s availability for the entire season now if you know your schedule!
• Meet Lineup will be emailed on Thursday. It is imperative that everyone check the line-up and let Jonny know if your swimmer is not available. There will be a lot of swimmers on vacation next week so it’s possible that your swimmer will swim in Saturday’s meet, even if they do not typically swim in A meets!
• Please sign up to volunteer if your swimmer makes the A meet. If your swimmer is not swimming, we do not expect you to volunteer at meet. We will work with you to fulfill your volunteer points.

Looking Ahead

• Please RSVP for our senior lunch after the home meet on July 8th. We will be selling hamburger/cheeseburger/hot dog, chips and a water for $5. There will also be cake served in honor of our graduating seniors. Please RSVP on the team site for everyone buying food. We are also in need of a few volunteers to help grill and pass out food.

General Reminders

• If you are able to attend morning swim practice, please attend that practice.  Afternoon practices should be for those swimmers who are not able to attend morning practices due to camps or other obligations.  And, swimmers should only attend one practice a day.  If they come to morning practice, they should not attend the afternoon practice due to space limitations in the afternoon.  
• Download the Swimtopia app for easy access to the schedule, volunteer sign-up, meet entry, get any practice cancellations and more!
• Please refrain from asking questions to the coaches during practices. Their attention and focus must remain on the swimmers. If you have questions, please email me, Jonny or consult the team website. There is a team handbook that answers many questions.
